Background

Over 3,500 women entrepreneurs, established businesses and shoppers attended the Ladies’ Expo held at the National Arena in Kingston, which was dedicated to showcasing local products, services and business opportunities. The event was one of the biggest women’s lifestyle exhibitions in Jamaica, with approximately 150 exhibitors from various industries.

Sponsors from the beauty, fashion, agriculture, healthcare, food, art and lifestyle industry set up their stalls and showcased their products and services around the venue. The visitors had an opportunity to look at a wide range of food products, fresh farm produce, handmade artwork, cosmetics and skincare products, wellness solutions and clothing. Many were also granted promotional offers and discounts during the event.

There were several corporate sponsors, and Guardian Group was the title sponsor. Some of the exhibitors included Kotex, Women’s Touch, KIG, Jetcon and Curves, with products and services on display in the areas of women’s health, personal care, financial wellness and daily living.

The event also provided an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to connect with new customers and enhance their market reach. Visitor interest was high in several exhibitors, many stopping to watch products being demonstrated, to find out about services being offered and to buy products from the business owners.

The expo provided an opportunity for networking for entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives and consumers, besides shopping. Attractive participation throughout the day gave businesses the chance to make new connections and look to future opportunities.

High attendance and the presence of all the exhibitors indicated high interest in events geared to women-led businesses. The new business connections, enhanced customer interactions and greater awareness of local entrepreneurship that resulted from the latest edition of the Ladies’ Expo left the participants with a host of opportunities.
