Background
Over 30 women entrepreneurs representing Bulgaria have taken part in a business forum held in Antalya. Participants of this event have had the opportunity to discuss the prospects of regional cooperation as well as other topics connected to business development and inter-state cooperation. This business forum has gathered businessmen from Turkiye and nearby countries.
Most talks at the business forum concerned problems of women who create businesses and try to become successful leaders. They discussed how to increase the role of women in different spheres of activity and what should be done to this end.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin, who attended the event as an official guest, addressed participants and pointed to the barriers many women continue to face in professional life. He noted that women often achieve success after overcoming obstacles that range from unequal treatment to pay gaps, adding that such challenges remain visible in many parts of the world.
The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Tukyan Turker, Chair of the Bulgarian-Turkish Women’s Business Club. Resilience was among the key themes highlighted by the speaker, who stressed the close cultural ties between the two countries. Women’s empowerment in the context of social and economic development was also mentioned.
For her part, Turker took advantage of the occasion to introduce a new social initiative carried out by the club. Specifically, the school in Hatay, which had been seriously affected by the earthquake that had hit the country’s south in 2023, was built. The institution was inaugurated during the fourth week of April.
The closing ceremony of the event included a symbolic gift exchange in which the representatives of the Bulgarian-Turkish Women’s Business Club gave Bulgarian gifts to the governor of Antalya.
