Fresno’s Latina Women’s Conference Draws 150 Entrepreneurs Together

About 150 people gathered at Pardini’s in Fresno for the annual Latina Women’s Conference, an event built around empowering women through entrepreneurship, networking and shared experience. The Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted this year’s gathering, themed “Unstoppable Mujeres: Rooted in Purpose.”

Two keynote speakers traveled from outside the region to share stories of resilience and purpose. Patty Grissom, vice president of the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, introduced keynote speaker Carla Sandoval, an entrepreneur from Los Angeles who coaches women in both Spanish and English.

Grissom encouraged attendees to network throughout the event and connect with vendors, noting that students from Fresno State and the conservation corps also attended and were encouraged to visit every booth.

At least 10 booths stayed busy with sales and networking during the conference. Among the participating business owners was Valerie Lopez, who began selling candles during the pandemic.

Lopez said she likes reminding aspiring entrepreneurs that getting involved and asking questions can carry them far, pointing to her own path from Fresno State student to business owner as proof that people from similar backgrounds can guide others toward success.

Giselle Sanchez, a chamber member who owns a financial consulting business, recalled the challenges she faced as a young entrepreneur. She said the conference gives attendees a chance to learn from other women’s approaches and apply those lessons to their own ventures. Sanchez added that seeing established entrepreneurs at the event motivates her to keep pushing her own business forward.
