Barrick Mining on Monday announced the appointment of Helen Cai as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective March 1, 2026. She will succeed Graham Shuttleworth, who will leave the company after Barrick announces and files its year-end financial results on February 5.

The company said Cai will work closely with Shuttleworth until his departure to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Cai has served on Barrick’s board of directors since November 2021 and currently holds the role of Senior Executive Vice President.

Barrick’s Group Chief Operating Officer and Interim President and Chief Executive, Mark Hill, said Cai’s strong financial background and long experience in the mining sector would support the company’s focus on improving performance and creating long-term value for shareholders. He also thanked Shuttleworth for his leadership and contribution to the company over the past seven years, wishing him well for the future.

Cai brings more than 20 years of experience across equity research, corporate finance, strategic planning, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions. She works across the mining, industrial, and technology sectors. She held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and China International Capital Corporation (CICC), where she advised clients on major deals and investment strategies.

During her career, Cai earned consistent top rankings as a research analyst from institutions such as StarMine, Institutional Investor, and Asiamoney. Several deals she led as an investment banker received industry awards from Asiamoney and The Asset.

Cai holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. She completed her education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University.

Barrick Mining trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol B and on the Toronto Stock Exchange as ABX.
