Background-

Entries have opened for the 2026 Women in Tech Awards in Northern Ireland, inviting professionals from across the technology sector to nominate themselves or colleagues before the deadline in early May.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Europa Hotel in Belfast in June and is expected to bring together more than 300 delegates from across the region’s growing tech industry. The event, organised by Women in Business, will also introduce a new category, Software Engineer of the Year, expanding recognition for talent in the sector.

Organisers said the awards continue to highlight women making strong contributions in technology at a time when the industry is expanding across areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, creative technology, and life sciences. A recent study showed Belfast has one of the highest tech job demand rates in the UK, reflecting strong growth in the sector.

Women in Business Director Caroline Coyle said the awards provide an important platform to recognise women leaders and innovators in technology. She added that the event remains a key date in the business calendar and helps highlight progress in an industry where gender balance still needs improvement.

Industry support for the event has also grown. Software NI, which represents more than 140 software companies, has partnered with the awards to promote growth in the local tech sector. Its chair, Lorna McAdoo, encouraged companies and individuals to nominate women who are driving innovation and creating impact across the industry.

The awards will have 10 categories, including Outstanding Woman in Tech, Digital Transformation Leader of the Year, Software Engineer of the Year, and Tech Team of the Year. Finalists will become part of a network that helps with career growth and industry connections.
