Background:

WellTheory has launched a Postpartum Program to help women handle hormone changes after childbirth that can affect autoimmune symptoms.

Autoimmune disease affects over 50 million people in the U.S., and most of them, about 80%, are women. Many healthcare services offer limited postpartum care, often ending just a few weeks after birth, even though hormonal changes continue for several months.

“Women who were managing their health before pregnancy may face new or intensified symptoms after giving birth,” said Ellen Rudolph, CEO and Co-Founder of WellTheory.

The Postpartum Program provides customized care plans, one-on-one guidance from specialists in autoimmune and hormonal health, and detailed hormone testing, including evaluations of sex hormones, cortisol, and their metabolites.

Wallace Torres, Co-Founder of WellTheory, shared the personal motivation behind the program: “My wife experienced challenges during the postpartum period, which showed us how little support is available for women at this stage. This program reflects both what we’ve seen in our patients and what women have told us they need.”

Women make up over 70% of WellTheory’s patients. The Postpartum Program builds on the company’s Hormonal Health Program, which helps women manage autoimmune issues alongside other hormonal conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, and menopause.

This initiative offers women the tools and support they need after childbirth to manage autoimmune symptoms and maintain their health during the postpartum period.
