Background:
Orreco, the Galway-based sports science company, has acquired Jennis, the women’s health and performance platform co-founded by Olympic champion Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill. The acquisition aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem focused entirely on female athlete performance.
Jennis was founded to address the lack of research, data, and guidance on women’s hormonal health and its impact on performance. The platform’s proprietary knowledge will now be integrated into Orreco’s suite of tools, including its FitrWoman platform and the DDSA computer vision technology, which Orreco already owns.
By combining these technologies, Orreco plans to provide a complete view of women’s performance. The platform will link data on hormones, nutrition, training, biomechanics, and movement patterns to real-world performance outcomes, helping athletes and teams make informed decisions.
Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill welcomed the acquisition, stating, “Orreco is the ideal home for the work we’ve done at Jennis. I am excited to join their team and contribute to advancing performance insights for women in sport. This is an important step in opening conversations and opportunities for sportswomen and teams worldwide.”
Orreco’s FitrWoman platform is already trusted by over 25 Olympic medallists and elite sports teams, including the England Lionesses, US Women’s National Soccer Team, USA Swimming, and top WNBA and WSL clubs. Elite athletes such as Allison Schmitt, the most decorated female swimmer in US history, have benefited from its performance and recovery insights.
Dr. Brian Moore, co-founder and CEO of Orreco, said, “This is more than just a set of tools; it is a complete system for understanding and improving women’s performance.” Women’s physiology has been overlooked for too long, and our platform uses data collected over a decade to support smarter training, recovery, and overall performance.”
The deal follows a strong period for Orreco, including a $4 million Series A extension featuring investment from Mark Cuban and Enterprise Ireland. Jennis’ integration into Orreco marks a key milestone in the company’s vision to redefine women’s performance science, offering athletes and teams a holistic and evidence-based approach to achieving peak results.
