Background
Irish law firm Matheson has been named Ireland Firm of the Year at the Women in Business Law Awards EMEA 2026, marking the third consecutive year it has received the honour. The firm also celebrated an individual achievement after senior associate Jenny Keenan won the Rising Star – Corporate/M&A award.
The annual awards recognise law firms and legal professionals that promote gender diversity and support the advancement of women across the legal sector in Europe.
Matheson said the latest recognition reflects its continued focus on creating an inclusive workplace while maintaining high standards of legal service. The firm also highlighted its efforts to support women throughout their careers and develop future legal leaders.
Managing Partner Darren Maher said receiving the Ireland Firm of the Year award for a third consecutive year reflects the firm’s commitment to inclusion, the strength of its team and the confidence clients continue to place in its services. He added that Keenan’s recognition demonstrates the firm’s success in developing talented professionals while delivering quality advice to clients facing increasingly complex legal matters.
Keenan said she was honoured to receive the award and credited the firm’s supportive culture and the opportunities provided throughout her career. She added that working alongside experienced colleagues has helped her contribute to delivering strong outcomes for clients.
The Rising Star award recognised Keenan’s work in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, as well as her contribution to client service and the firm’s wider activities.
The awards were presented during the Women in Business Law Awards EMEA ceremony held in London, bringing together legal professionals from across the region to celebrate excellence and diversity in the legal profession.
